Daily Planet Health Services at VCU Sets First Meeting

DPHS is a nonprofit clinic that provides free medical, mental and dental care to people of Richmond. The clinic also accepts insurance patients. DPHS at VCU is a new organization, seeking to heighten awareness for the organization, raise money and benefit the community. VCU Guitar Series: Fado Nosso

Fado Nosso, which plays what has been described as Portuguese blues, will perform in the Sonia Vlahcevic Concert Hall, W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. The group, featuring members from Richmond-area groups including the Larri Branch Agenda, Richmond Guitar Quartet, Gypsy Roots and Moruza, draws upon influences from jazz, classical, flamenco and folk. Film Screening and Panel Discussion: 'Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook'

The ICA and VCU ASPiRE will host the screening of "Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook" at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. The documentary tracks efforts to make it harder and more dangerous to vote, especially for minority groups and young people. Following the film will be a panel discussion including Julian Hayter, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Leadership Studies, University of Richmond, and the author of "The Dream is Lost: Voting Rights and the Politics of Race in Richmond."

Scientist-Artist Exchange Planned at Gallery 5
Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2019 at 7 p.m.
Three VCU scientists will each give 10-minute talks about a scientific problem. Artists will bring their own supplies and then create a work about the scientific problem. After an intermission where the artists can ask questions, continue working or grab a refreshment, the exchange will begin. Three or four artists will explain to audience what they imagined as they heard the problem and share their artistic sketch. The session will be held at Gallery 5, 200 W. Marshall St. All work can be shown the following Wednesday for one night at Gallery 5.

Essentials of Craft Beer Course Scheduled

CLARION Scholarship Competition Interest Meeting Set

VCU's Center for Interprofessional Education in collaboration with Inter Health Professional Alliance Student Group will hold an interest meeting for the CLARION Case Competition. This competition allows students to form interprofessional teams and put forth solutions for a community- and health-based case to earn scholarship money and educational/résumé-building skills. The winning VCU team will compete in the national competition in Minnesota in April 2020. The VCU winning team from last year will be in attendance to discuss their experience and a short presentation will be given about the logistics of the competition. The session will be in Room 1-067, Sanger Hall, 1101 E. Marshall St.

New Lottery System To Be Used for Spring 2020 MCV Campus Parking Sale
A sales process resembling a lottery system will be used for students interested in purchasing parking on the MCV campus for Spring 2020. The process will begin at midnight Oct. 30.
