Volunteers Needed for RPS 'One Richmond, One Book' Program
12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
VCU's Center for Community Engagement and Impact will host an orientation session for students and staff interested in participating in "One Richmond, One Book." The three-part literacy program will take place in all 26 Richmond City elementary schools. Everyone - students, teachers, administrators, families and community partners - reads the same book at the same time. Volunteers are needed to read to classes. Tobacco Cessation Program Set

ICA Cinema: Two Films by Jenn Nkiru

The ICA will showcase two works by filmmaker Jenn Nkiru. A discussion will follow. "Black Star: Rebirth Is Necessary" focuses on Nkiru’s personal exploration of blackness, while "Black to Techno" documents the radical musical movement that originated in Detroit in the 1980s. Drawing on archival film and new footage, "Black to Techno" explores how history, technology, geography and race shaped the creation and emergence of techno in Detroit. The films will be shown at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St.

VCU Police Remind Drivers To Leave a Note or Call After Damaging Vehicles
The VCU Police Department has seen an increase in the number of reported hit-and-run crashes, especially in parking facilities. These minor crashes are unintentional and tend to happen at very low speeds when a driver is parking or leaving a parking space. In the event you’re involved in such a crash, as either the driver or a passenger, you have a legal responsibility to leave your information on the vehicle you damaged or contact police. If you do not, you’re a hit-and-run driver.
