The Discovery Advising team and the College of Humanities and Sciences will host the annual majors fair. Goldwater Scholarship Informational Session
2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
VCU's National Scholarship Office will host an informational session about the Goldwater Scholarship, an award for sophomores and juniors planning to pursue a career in STEM-field research. Scholars receive up to $7,500 toward educational expenses, as well as access to mentoring and an alumni network. Attend a meeting online or at the National Scholarship Office, Room 1210, 701 W. John B. Fenn Lecture Announced
5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Martin F. Jarrold, Ph.D., a professor of analytical chemistry at Indiana University, will deliver the VCU Department's John B. Fenn Lecture. The talk will be given at the W.E. Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. Fenn, a former research professor of analytical chemistry at VCU, was awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2002.

Debate Watch Party at Rams Lounge

VCU's Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement will host a riverfront canal cruise. Experience the James River and Kanawha Canal on a guided tour in authentic, covered, flat-bottomed boats. United2Heal To Host Friday Warehouse Event
Friday, Sep. 13, 2019 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
VCU's United2Heal chapter will hold its weekly warehouse event on Sept. 13. At the event, 1210 Bentley St., volunteers sort and organize excess medical supplies collected from hospitals and clinics for shipment to countries in need.

'Breathe, River' Sound Installation at Byrd Park Pump House
Saturday, Sep. 14, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
VCUarts Department of Kinetic Imaging presents "Breathe, River." The immersive sound installation by Sara Bouchard (MFA 2019) will be in Richmond's historic Byrd Park Pump House, 1708 Pump House Drive. The work is informed by conversations with aquatic ecologist Paul Bukaveckas, Ph.D., of VCU's Rice Rivers Center and features a musical composition based on water quality data from the James River. The exhibit will also be available at the same hours on Sept. 15.

Substitute Teaching the VCU Way
VCU's School of Education's Office of Strategic Engagement invites students to participate in the Substitute Teaching the VCU Way program. Students can support local Richmond-area schools, earn money as a substitute teacher and build professional competencies. Registration Open for Five-Saturday Drawing Class
Drawing For Your Portfolio is a five-Saturday, not-for-credit, drawing studio course for prospective art students. Expand drawing skills, receive drawing feedback and create new work for art school application portfolios. The class is appropriate for introductory drawing students and those with more experience. Health Innovation Consortium Application Process Is Open
The Healthcare Innovation Consortium supports innovators and technologies in health care with guidance, programming and funding. The platform is geared for health care innovators who have identified health care problems or are building businesses around new technologies. The consortium is in partnership with VCU, VCUHealth and Activation Capital to support health innovation across Virginia. The group's application portal is open for submissions, which should be completed by Sept. 30 to be included in the next review cycle.
