Peer Health Educators from the Wellness Resource Center will hold an event focusing on self-care for the holidays. The session will be in the lobby of the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Peer Health Educators will discuss self-care habits and assist in making personalized journals to use during the upcoming year or to give as holiday gifts. The journals will focus on such topics as exercise, sleep and mindfulness. Prizes will be provided.

Her talk, "Developing a Culturally Adapted Telephone Genetic Counseling Intervention to Enhance Genetic Risk Assessment in Underserved Latinas at Risk of Hereditary Breast Cancer," will be in Rooms 104 and 105, Hermes A. VCU Police To Host 10th Annual Chili Challenge

VCU Police will hold its 10th annual chili cook-off at Rodney's Place in Shafer Court Dining Center, 810 Cathedral Place. Those who attend are asked to donate $5 to sample chili and get a hot bowl of their favorite recipe. All proceeds benefit FRIENDS Association for Children in Richmond. First-, second- and third-place winners will be named, along with a taster's favorite.

GEO Lunch and Learn: Working With VCU's English Language Learners (Monroe Park)

He will deliver his talk, "From Nixon to Trump: Why Our Democracy Needs Strong Journalism," at the theater in the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Levey is an award-winning journalist who has covered the Washington scene since the Johnson administration. For 23 years, he wrote a daily column, “Bob Levey’s Washington,” for The Washington Post. His latest book, "Larry Felder, Candidate," will be for sale before and after his talk at VCU.

Volunteers are needed for the Pace Center's third annual Multicultural Thanksgiving meal. This meal, prepared by VCU students, is a way to introduce other students to your cultural heritage. Participate by preparing a cultural dish for 10 to 15 people. (Pace will provide money for ingredients.) At the meal, at 6-9 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Pace Center, 700 W. Summer Study Abroad Program: Midwifery and Health in Guatemala
VCU's Institute for Women’s Health and Highland Support Project will host a week in partnership with indigenous midwives and community leaders in Guatemala. Participants will learn about traditional Maya medicine and midwifery practices in the region. The trip will be May 16-23, 2020. The cost is $985 plus airfare. March 1 is the application deadline.
