Professional Development for Artists: Grant Writing

The goal of this seminar is to demystify the process by providing artists with the necessary skills to write a successful grant. Learn the difference between a grant, fellowship and commission and how to seek out the right grant. Learn how to interpret grant guidelines, write compelling narratives, create budgets and provide work samples and other documentation to support your proposal. The session, which will be taught by artist-in-residence Paul Rucker, will be held at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St.

See Hope Ginsburg's 'Land Dive Team: Amphibious James' on VPM

Hope Ginsburg's "Land Dive Team: Amphibious James" was a public performance at the site of the James River co-commissioned by the Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU and the Richmond Symphony. The piece, to be broadcast on VPM Channel 23, is a meditation for the James with the species that live on its shores, in its waters and in the air above.

English Faculty Forum: Joshua Eckhardt, 'Brit. Lit. I From Only One Library'

Joshua Eckhardt, Ph.D., an associate professor in the VCU Department of English, will discuss "Brit. Lit. I From Only One Library." The English Faculty Forum talk will be in Room 308, Hibbs Hall, 900 Park Ave. Eckhardt's survey of early British literature features Chaucer, Shakespeare, Donne, Milton and Behn, but the class reads books collected by a single family, the Egertons of Bridgewater. Eckhardt will show how he uses the Egertons’ books and legal records to contextualize John Donne's verse satires.

Pups on the Plaza Fundraiser Set

The Center for Human-Animal Interaction will host Pups on the Plaza 2019 on 12th Street, VCU Medical Center. The Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign fundraising event features the Dogs On Call therapy dogs. Meal tickets will be $4 and event T-shirts (a special eco-friendly design) will be $10. Marshall St. A session will also be held at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at MMEC in Rooms 12-101/102. CReSS provides clinical research professionals with the skills and knowledge to conduct of clinical research. The presentation will focus on unanticipated problems and noncompliance. Massey Cancer Center Seeks Grant Applicants
The American Cancer Society has awarded an Institutional Research Grant to VCU's Massey Cancer Center. Flu Shots Available On Campus for Employees
Human Resources provides eligible VCU faculty and staff with seasonal flu shots on a first-come, first-served basis beginning in October. For dates and locations, visit the following URL.
