Trademarks and Licensing Vendor Fair Set
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
VCU's Office of Trademarks and Licensing will host a vendor fair in the Virginia Rooms, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Students, faculty and staff can meet licensed vendors who produce VCU-branded products for departmental use, student groups, giveaways and promotions. Make Cards for Kids at ICA

VCU's Division of Community Engagement and the ICA will host a session to make birthday cards by hand to help local students celebrate their special day. Author Who Explores Social Cost of Black Academic Success To Speak

Author and VCU alumnus Jeffrey Blount will discuss "The Emancipation of Evan Walls," his novel which explores the identity of a young black man. The talk will be in Room 303, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., and will be followed with a Q&A moderated by Jeanne Meserve, a book sale and a reception.

Swim Across America - Richmond Open Water Swim

VCU Massey Cancer Center will be the recipient of proceeds raised from the Swim Across America fundraiser. Santiago Lima, Ph.D., of Massey’s Cancer Cell Signaling research program, will lead Team Massey in the Swim Across America - Richmond Open Water Swim. Proceeds provide seed funding for research. VCU Police Urge Cyclists To Use U-locks
In the aftermath of stolen bicycle reports, VCU Police remind cyclists to properly lock bikes on bike racks. Police urge cyclists to use U-locks instead of chain locks because thieves can easily cut chain locks. VCUPD’s next bike registration is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Jonah L. Larrick Student Center, 900 Turpin St. Officers will be giving away free U-locks. Cyclists can visit VCUPD headquarters, 224 E. Broad St., to pick up a U-lock. Bikes can be registered online.
