Thomas A. Foster, Ph.D., a historian of sexuality and gender in early America, will lead a discussion hosted by VCU's Department of History. The talk will be in Room 250, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave. In his book, "Rethinking Rufus: Sexual Violations of Enslaved Men," Foster illuminates how the conditions of slavery gave rise to a variety of forms of sexual assault and exploitation that affected all members of the community.
