Embodied Empathy Open House: VR and Performance Class
Friday, Oct. 4, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
VCU faculty members John Blatter and Jill Ware of Embodied Empathy will open up their virtual reality and performance class for visitors to experience student dancers' work-in-progress VR movement pieces. In this work, the user embodies each dancer, performing choreographed gestures set to music in virtual space. If time allows, users can also try Blatter and Ware's Wooded Dance, a VR experience that explores basic ideas of cooperative movement. The event will be at The Anderson, 907 1/2 W. Franklin St.

Campus Sustainability Day at Commons Plaza

REVIVE! is the Opioid Overdose and Naloxone Education program for the Commonwealth of Virginia. REVIVE! offers training to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose emergency with the administration of naloxone (Narcan). Sessions are open to VCU community members including faculty, staff and students. Training sessions, at the VCU School of Nursing, 1100 E. Leigh St., are limited to 25 persons for each session. VCU Police Remind Drivers To Leave a Note or Call After Damaging Vehicles
The VCU Police Department has seen an increase in the number of reported hit-and-run crashes, especially in parking facilities. These minor crashes are unintentional and tend to happen at very low speeds when a driver is parking or leaving a parking space. In the event you’re involved in such a crash, as either the driver or a passenger, you have a legal responsibility to leave your information on the vehicle you damaged or contact police. If you do not, you’re a hit-and-run driver.

Students interested in submitting ideas to VCU's Innovation Challenges should do so by Oct. 6. VCU’s Innovation Challenges, hosted by the da Vinci Center, invites students to submit their most creative and innovative solutions as they relate to health care, higher education and poverty. Students of all levels are encouraged to participate. Those who submit winning ideas will receive funding, mentorship and acceptance into the university's Pre-X program. Caps, Gowns and Hoods for December Commencement
December commencement exercises take place at 10 a.m. Dec. 14 in the E.J. Wade Arena at the Stuart C. Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad St. Students participating in the ceremony must wear caps, gowns and hoods. Academic regalia should be purchased at the Barnes and Noble at VCU on your respective campus. Regalia will be available for sale through Dec. 13 on the MCV and Monroe Park campuses. Rec Sports Hip-Hop Workshop To Include Multiple Styles
VCU Recreational Sports is offering a hip-hop class that incorporates beginner to intermediate techniques to help develop rhythm, coordination and musicality in a stress-free environment. Students will also be exposed to multiple styles of hip-hop dance, in addition to learning how to develop choreography. The class, at the Marshall Street Studio, 1300 W.
