A Stalking Awareness Month Event: Screening the TV Series 'YOU'

Join Confidential Advocates from University Counseling Serivces and community partners to stream and discuss "YOU," the TV series. What's the difference between a loving partner and a stalker? Is it okay to enjoy the series even though it glorifies stalking? These and other questions will be discussed at the session in the Rams Lounge, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Dinner will be provided.

VCU Globe will recognize Fred Korematsu Day with a screening of “A Vanished Dream: Wartime Story of My Japanese Grandfather.” The film, to be shown in Room 1030J, West Grace Street Student Housing – North, 830 W. Grace St., is by Richmond Free Press photojournalist Regina Boone. A discussion about past and recent immigration issues will follow.

Pop-Up Naloxone Training

Rams In Recovery will host pop-up naloxone training at Table Three in the lobby of the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Training to use naloxone, a drug that reverses opioid overdoses, takes five minutes. Receive free naloxone.

Health and Physical Activity Lecture Series: 'The Curiously Elastic Limits of Human Performance'
Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Alex Hutchinson, Outside magazine’s “Sweat Science” columnist, will speak at a Health and Physical Activity Lecture hosted by VCU Dept. of Kinesiology. Hutchinson's ability to break down the latest findings from exercise physiology journals for a general audience and explore the training techniques of the world's best athletes prompted FiveThirtyEight to name him one of their "favorite running science geeks." The talk will be in the Grace E. Harris Hall Auditorium, 1015 Floyd Ave.

VCU DPT: Beginner Salsa Lesson and Fundraiser
Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The VCU Physical Therapy Program will offer a beginner salsa dance class taught by VCU DPT students. The class will be in Room 1075, College of Health Professions Building, 900 E. Leigh St. No experience or partner required to attend. Tickets are $5. REAL Challenge Grant Applications
The Office of VCU's Relevant, Experiential and Applied Learning is now accepting applications for REAL Challenge Grants. The grants provide funding support for VCU faculty and staff to create or enhance experiential learning opportunities for their students. These funds can be used for professional development, conferences/workshops, resources and personnel, curriculum/co-curriculum development or other costs associated with furthering experiential learning programming and initiatives. Both individual and team applications are welcome. It is anticipated that funding awards will range from $1,500 to $8,000. All full-time VCU employees involved in experiential learning work at the university are eligible to apply. Both individual and team applications will be accepted.
