Pop-Up Naloxone Training
Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020 from noon to 2 p.m.
Rams In Recovery will host a pop-up naloxone training session in the lobby of the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Naloxone is a lifesaving drug that can be given to an individual who has overdosed on opiates. The free training takes five minutes. Free naloxone will be provided.

ICA Visiting Artist Lecture by Lavar Munroe

The VCU Department of Painting + Printmaking presents interdisciplinary artist Lavar Munroe, whose work encompasses painting, drawing, sculpture and installation art to create hybrid forms that straddle the line between sculpture and painting. Munroe has exhibited at Prospect.4 in New Orleans, the 12th Dakar Biennial in Senegal and the 2015 Venice Biennale. He also represented The Bahamas at the 2010 Liverpool Biennial. The talk will be at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St.

Iyapo Repository Workshop at ICA

Members of the Iyapo Repository, an afrofuturist archive, will lead a public workshop at the ICA. Iyapo Repository is a resource library that houses a collection of digital and physical artifacts created to affirm and project the future of people of African descent. The repository is named for Lilith Iyapo, a black woman in Octavia Butler’s book series “Lilith’s Brood.” Members of the group archive manuscripts, films, drawings, rare media and more. Black Women Sought To Participate in Study About Dealing With Racial Discrimination
VCU School of Medicine is looking for black women ages 18-25 with a BMI between 25-45 kg/m2 in the Richmond area who want to take part in a study designed to capture experiences of racial discrimination. HER Squared is a research study designed to provide the opportunity to reflect on various experiences with racism and how you deal with the experiences.
