Amnesty International at VCU To Hold Charity Event

Amnesty International at VCU will host a slam poetry charity event in Richmond Salons, III-IV, University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. The event is in support of the decriminalization of sex work and all proceeds will be donated to Safe Harbor. Rambotics 2020 at Engineering East Hall
Saturday, Mar. 21, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Rambotics 2020 is a student-developed competition in which teams design, build and program robots to complete a series of challenges and time trials. The event will be held in the atrium, College of Engineering East Hall, 401 W. Main St. A drag strip challenge has been added. Teams will compete on three-dimensional courses, line-following and maze challenges.

Take Safety Measures During Thanksgiving Break
VCU Police reminds everyone to lock doors and windows of residence hall rooms, houses, apartments and offices and to take all keys during the break. Valuables should be stored in a locked drawer or closet or taken home. Drivers leaving a car on campus should park in a well-lighted area, remove all valuables and lock the doors. Cyclists should store bikes in legal, secure locations with a U-lock.

New IT Ticketing System for Faculty, Staff and Students
On Dec. 4, VCU Technology Services with be retiring the current Service Desk ticketing system. On this date, faculty, staff and students will begin using the new IT Support ticketing system to submit tickets for IT incidents, requests and other inquiries. Participants Invited To Help Researchers Better Understand Substance Use
VCU's Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies is currently recruiting participants for various brain scan research studies. Adult volunteers who don’t use, sometimes use or frequently use substances such as cocaine, prescription pain pills or alcohol may be eligible. The information you provide is confidential, and participants are compensated for their time. The study will be conducted at 203 E. Cary St.

Virtual Immersive Gaming to Optimize Recovery in Low Back Pain
Are you currently experiencing low back pain, between the ages of 18-60 years old and interested in the possibility of nine weeks of nonsurgical experimental treatment? If you answered yes to all three you may qualify for our research. What? New, innovative and fun virtual reality games are designed to help people with chronic back pain move and feel better. Where? All appointments, testing and treatments are conducted at VCU. When? Participation in the study involves 24 one-hour appointments scheduled over a 57-week period. Who? Participants Invited for Study Evaluating Noninvasive Brain Stimulation to Activate Muscle
The VCU Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking male and female volunteers ages 18-65 without a history of neurological disorder to participate in a research study. This study involves transcranial magnetic stimulation, which is a noninvasive and widely used brain stimulation technique. Volunteers will be compensated for their time, which will be three hours for each of two sessions on different days. The study is conducted at 737 N. Fifth St. Recruitment is ongoing and a telephone call is needed to determine eligibility.
