CLARION Case Scholarship Competition
Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2020 from noon to 1 p.m.
The Center for Interprofessional Education in collaboration with Inter Health Professional Alliance Student Group will hold an interest meeting for the CLARION Case Competition. This competition allows students to form interprofessional teams and put forth solutions for a community and health-based case to earn scholarship money and educational/résumé building skills. The session will be in the boardroom of the Putney House, 1010 E. Marshall St. Darci Bowles of the School of Nursing will also offer a Root Cause Analysis presentation. The winning VCU team will compete in the national competition in Minnesota in April 2020.

'From Abidjan to Richmond: A Conversation on Fulbright Travel, Study and Work Abroad'

VCU Dept. of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies and the Global Education Office will host a roundtable about Fulbright travel, study and work abroad. The discussion will be led by Konan Amani, former Fulbright liaison and professor emeritus, Houphouët-Boigny University, Côte d'Ivoire, and Christine Cynn, Ph.D., former Fulbright recipient and associate professor of the department of Gender, Sexuality and Women's Studies. Rainbow Group Offers Support

Rainbow Group, which provides support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender/gender nonconforming, queer, asexual and intersex students, meets weekly on Fridays throughout the semester. National Day of Racial Healing: 'The Burial of Kojo' Film Screening
Monday, Jan. 20, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
ICA and Initiatives of Change USA bring Ghanaian filmmaker and musician Blitz the Ambassador to Richmond to headline the annual National Day of Racial Healing. The film, "The Burial of Kojo," will be screened at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. The event, created by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, enacts their approach to truth, racial healing and transformation. Initiatives of Change is leading this process in Richmond, one of 14 U.S. cities funded by Kellogg to implement racial healing work.

Students can support local schools, earn money as a substitute and build professional competencies. Students considering a career in research who would like to gain research experience before applying for a Ph.D. can submit an application for the Philips Institute for Oral Health Summer Research Program through the School of Dentistry. Research areas include cancer, infection and inflammation and bioengineering. Students will receive a stipend and be provided with housing, if needed, for the duration of the program.
