VCU Peppas Annual High School Band Day
Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The VCU Peppas Athletic Band, VCU Athletics and School of the Arts will host 125 high school students from across the commonwealth for high school band day. Participants will practice and perform with the Peppas as the men's basketball team takes on the University of Rhode Island at the Stuart C. Siegel Center, 1200 W. Broad St. Participants will receive a free T-shirt and lunch. Register at the following URL.

'A Hidden Culture of Coping: Insights on Black Women's Experiences in Predominantly White Institutions'
Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020 from noon to 1 p.m.
Danielle Apugo, Ph.D., visiting faculty scholar, iCubed Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry and Innovation, will lead a seminar about the experiences of black women in predominately white institutions. The talk will be in Room 644, One Capitol Square, 830 E. Main St. A light lunch will be provided.

Knit Wits Gathering
Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020 from noon to 2 p.m.
Episcopal Campus Ministries at VCU will host a lunchtime gathering for those who want to learn to knit and crochet. The sessions, to be held the third Thursday of each month, will be at Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 8 N. Laurel St.

Faculty: Open Textbook Workshops Set for 2020
Faculty members looking for texts that are more affordable for students, more aligned with class syllabus or that allow for more flexibility in course design should plan to attend a 2020 Open Textbook Workshop. VCU Libraries hosts these sessions, in which faculty can earn $200 stipends, on Jan. 31, Feb. 12 and March 3. Sign up by Jan. 24. Register at the following URL.
