Medicine With Pride at VCU will host Nationz Foundation during a collection of nonperishable food items in an RV at 12th Street by James W. and Frances G. McGlothlin Medical Education Center, 1201 E. Marshall St. Nationz Foundation is a Richmond nonprofit organization seeking to raising awareness of HIV/STIs and social determinants. Members of the group will also perform free STI testing.

In VCU Libraries' ongoing series, Dianne V. Pawluk, associate professor and Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology Coordinator, Department of Biomedical Engineering, and grad students Bryson Josiah Goolsby and Hyun Woo Kim will present. Assistive technologies are often thought of as devices that support people with disabilities. But some useful tools, such as the autofocus camera, speech-to-text and even the potato peeler came from the development of assistive technologies. This session, in the Workshop, lower level, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., is a crash course on design methods.

IExcel Pop-up Course: Disrupting Disability
Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2020 from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
How do people with disabilities live successful lives despite continued segregation and stigma? Through three experiential classes taught by people with lived experience of disability, students in this IExcel pop-up course will gain a greater understanding of: 1) how to disrupt disability ableism, 2) challenges to inclusion and access to the community that is vital to belonging, and 3) ways to positively influence equal opportunities for people with disabilities in the future. Starting Feb. 25, this noncredit pop-up course for students will meet for three consecutive 90-minute weekly sessions in different locations on Tuesday afternoons.
