RAMmalogues: Students Discuss How Money and Background Can Close or Open Doors
12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Ever been treated differently around campus based on income, wealth, education, status and/or power? What doors opened? What doors closed? Money, family and background are all characteristics which sometimes define us in our own mind and in the eyes of others. This idea of social class and how it opens doors or keeps us out is the topic for the February monthly forum hosted by Inclusive Excellence. RAMmalogues provides a braver/safer space for all students to talk with each other about their social identities and lived experiences at VCU. The goal is to increase students’ understanding of issues related to acceptance, belonging and inclusion around campus and to provide tools for talking about difference. Dialogues encompassing race, gender, class and similar themes are led by trained facilitators provided by Kimbrough Consulting and Richmond Action Dialogues. Register at the following URL. Food will be provided. The session will be in Room 250, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave.
