The Science Hub Presents 'Not on My Résumé: Struggles, Failures, Detours and Doubts'

The Science Hub presents an informal series at which students will have the opportunity to talk with faculty, graduate students and postdoctoral researchers about hurdles in their careers and how they dealt with them. Student Success Resource Fair

Writing Retreats Set for Doctoral and Master's Thesis Writers
Monday, Feb. 3, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
VCU Libraries invites ABD students, doctoral candidates and masters thesis writers to a series of all-day writing retreats. Spacious writing space with big tables and power strips will be available each day. The drop-in series, in Room 303, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., is free and open to all. Retreats will also be held March 2 and April 13. The Dissertation and Thesis Writing Retreat is a partnership with the libraries, VCU Graduate School, VCU Writing Center and VCU Wellness Resource Center.

Summer Study Abroad Program: Midwifery and Health in Guatemala
VCU Institute for Women’s Health and Highland Support Project will host a week in partnership with indigenous midwives and community leaders in Guatemala learning about traditional Maya medicine and exploring the history of health care and healing. The group will learn about traditional medicine and midwifery practices. Trip dates are May 16-23. The cost is $985, plus airfare. Apply at the following URL. Keynote Speaker Named for VA Regional Health Sciences Education Symposium
VCU School of Medicine has announced the keynote details for the VA Regional Health Sciences Education Symposium to be given at 11 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Jonah L. Larrick Student Center, 900 Turpin St. Sheila Chauvin, Ph.D., M.Ed., of LSU School of Medicine, New Orleans, will present "Educational Scholarship as a Team Sport: The C's to Success." Chauvin will discuss a conceptual framework as a systematic approach to envisioning and enhancing productivity in educational research and scholarship through engagement with others.
