Volunteer Orientation for 'One Richmond, One Book'
3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
"One Richmond, One Book" is a reading program by ReadToThem.org that provides books in March to Richmond Public Schools for family literacy. Volunteers can serve as classroom readers, activity leaders, transporters, creative members and more. Project coordinator TaLees Owens will host an orientation for volunteers at the Center on Health Disparities, fourth floor, Theatre Row Building, 730 E. Patient Safety Awareness Week: Safety Fair
7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
VCU Health will host a safety fair as part of Patient Safety Awareness Week in the Main 2 Meeting Center, Main Hospital, 1250 E. Marshall St. Topics to be covered at the event include medication safety, exposure safety, fall safety and more. Prizes and one special grand prize will be available.

'ACT and TriNetX: Cohort Discovery Platforms to Explore and Validate Feasibility for Clinical Studies'

VCU C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research and Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences will present a lunchtime seminar. Tim Aro and Patrick Shi of the Wright Center will discuss HIPAA-compliant cohort discovery platforms, which help researchers evaluate potential research populations, answer research questions with deidentified data and develop collaborations across institutions. An ICA Shop will feature Lauren Francescone and Zeynab Izadyar. The event will be held at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St. Francescone, a New York-based artist and designer, is founder of the contemporary ceramics publication Temperatures. She received a B.S. from the University of Virginia School of Architecture and an MFA from Yale University School of Art. Izadyar is an independent interdisciplinary designer and founder of VVORK VVORK VVORK, a slow-made streetwear-inspired garments studio in Brooklyn, N.Y. Izadyar received a BFA from Tehran University and an MFA from Yale.

IDEATE Female Founders Summit

Call for Abstracts: VCU Poster Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creativity
VCU undergraduates engaged in mentored research are encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration. Presentations may be for completed research projects, completed papers or research in progress.
