Sound artist Marcus Fischer will discuss installation and sound composition at the ICA with a focus on his work in the 2019 Whitney Biennial. His talk will be followed by an improvised performance using analog and digital processes. Fischer is a musician and interdisciplinary artist based in Portland, Ore., whose work centers around memory, geography and the manipulation of physical audio-recording mediums. He builds soundscapes from recordings, found objects and chance, along with tape loops and live instruments. The event will be at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W.
