Informational Session About Scholarships to Fund Graduate Study

The National Scholarship Office will host an informational session about several fully funded opportunities to pursue graduate studies abroad and in the United States. Learn about the Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, Gates Cambridge, Knight-Hennessy and Schwarzman scholarships and how the NSO can assist with the application process. Wednesdays in the Workshop Series: Podcasting
Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Allison Bennett Dyche, director, VCU Student Media Center, will present in this ongoing series hosted by VCU Libraries. The session, to be held in the Workshop, lower level, James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., covers the basics of podcasting: what it is, how to plan a podcast, how to record materials and how to edit using the free and open-source program Audacity. Bring a laptop to follow along.

Ash Wednesday Labyrinth Walk
Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Episcopal Campus Ministry will observe the beginning of Lent by hosting a labyrinth walk in the parish hall at Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 8 N. Laurel St. The labyrinth is a meditative exercise that allows the individual to begin a spiritual journey or pilgrimage without leaving their homeland. Lentil soup will be available for lunch. Ash Wednesday services will be held at 7 a.m., noon and 7 p.m.

Live Taping of 'Writing Our Way Out - The Podcast'

"Mother Love," the third episode of "Writing Our Way Out - The Podcast," follows Terence through the beatings he received as a child, which caused him to wonder if, when and why he was loved. "Writing Our Way Out" is a collective of formerly incarcerated writers led by David Coogan, Ph.D., VCU Department of English. The participants' work explores the conditions, traps and turning points of imprisonment in America, as well as the redemptive power of memoir. The taping will be held in Room 308, Hibbs Hall, 900 Park Ave.

Faculty Requests Required for Kanopy
In spring semester 2020, all Kanopy film titles require a faculty request for access and approval by the VCU Libraries. Once approved, the film will be available for viewing to everyone in the VCU community. Kanopy film titles and categories remain searchable. A request form appears with each film title. Film requests must be made by VCU faculty and tied to course instruction. Films must be requested two weeks prior to the time of instruction in order for approval. See details on the web.
