Me and My People: Ethnicity and Stigma at VCU Under COVID-19
Friday, Apr. 24, 2020 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
How is your ethnicity experienced at VCU during COVID-19? Students are invited to share how their ethnic groups (those with whom they share a common culture, ancestry, religion and/or language) are impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. RAMmalogues is an opportunity for virtual dialogue where you can talk with other students about these lived experiences and understand them in the context of acceptance, belonging and inclusion. This will be a special online session using Zoom (with some small group discussions). As the coronavirus outbreak creates distance between us, we believe it is still important to stay connected, check in with our peers and have a discussion about the emotional, mental and social impacts of COVID-19. RAMmalogues provides a braver/safer space for students to talk with each other about their social identities and lived experiences at VCU through dialogues on race, gender, class and similar themes, led by trained facilitators provided by Kimbrough Consulting and Richmond Action Dialogues. Register at the following URL to be sent a link to join this virtual community on April 24 at noon.
For more information, contact Jan Altman, Ph.D., at jhaltman@vcu.edu or (804) 828-8947 or visit https://inclusive.vcu.edu/iexcel/rammalogues/.
