VCU Libraries Community Zooms: The Goochland County Rosenwald Schools Oral History Project

Starting in the 1910s, Rosenwald Schools were constructed for black students as a philanthropic endeavor funded in part by businessman and philanthropist Julius Rosenwald. In this session, sponsored by VCU Libraries, explore the Goochland County Rosenwald Schools Oral History digital collection, a project for preserving an important chapter in Virginia history. Luis Vasquez La Roche To Stream Performance Live
5:30 p.m.
The Anderson presents OYA-9394, a performance by VCUarts Painting + Printmaking 2020 alumni Luis Vasquez La Roche from his thesis exhibition, "I Hope My Black Skin Don't Dirt This White Tuxedo." It will stream live on The Anderson's Instagram account (@vcuartstheanderson). The performance envisions a dystopian future navigated by the artist in a protective OYA suit as he develops new methods of survival.

VCU Libraries Announces Plans and Dates for Reopening Buildings
VCU Libraries has announced its plan for restoring on-site services; Tompkins-McCaw Library for the Health Sciences, 509 N. 12th St., will open July 27 and James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave., on Aug. 3. Building occupancy may be limited. Hours of service have not yet been set.
