Sound as an Interdisciplinary Medium

Throughout a career in sound art, electronic music and soundtrack composition, Stephen Vitiello, professor and chair, Kinetic Imaging, VCUarts, has created works in which sound is a primary medium. At the same time, he has collaborated across disciplines, including working with award-winning artists, dancers and choreographers, novelists, poets and a biologist. In this lecture, Vitiello will discusse the interdisciplinary power and potential of audio and visual art.

Discounted Adobe Creative Cloud Licenses for Faculty and Staff
Adobe Creative Cloud licenses are available for purchase by individual faculty and staff for $190 per year. These licenses are assigned to an individual and may be used on multiple computers (maximum of two at the same time). Adobe Acrobat Pro DC licenses are $60 per year. Departmental licenses are also available for $190 per year and are assigned to a single computer. Guarding Against Unconscious Bias
VCU's Learning, Development and Organizational Culture team will present "Unconscious Bias," a multi-part playlist that explores how unconscious bias affects our lives, our work and ourselves. The content includes tactics to combat unconscious bias, talking about bias and breaking bias habits. The playlist consists of 14 four- to nine-minute micro-learnings that can be started, stopped and reviewed at any time. Log into Talent@VCU, hover over the Learning Tab, click on Learning Search, filter by Type, select Playlist and locate Unconscious Bias Playlist.

VCU Mail Services Department Address Updates
VCU Mail Services is now open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. and has resumed mail delivery and pickup services. Contact the office at the following URL to confirm which days mail requiring a signature can be accepted. Departments will also soon receive a memo to their current address on file. VCU Launches Temporary Cross-Campus Shuttle
To support VCU community members traveling cross-campus with increased safety concerns, VCU Parking and Transportation launched a temporary express shuttle on Aug. 14. Buses travel to designated stops at James Branch Cabell Library, 901 Park Ave.; One Capitol Square, 830 E. Main St.; and McGuire Hall, 1112 E. Clay St. Students and employees can ride by presenting a VCU or VCU Health System ID card to the driver upon boarding. Face masks must be worn upon boarding and while riding the bus at all times.

Volunteers Sought for Research Study
The VCU Department of Surgery is inviting all volunteers willing to donate a blood sample. This is a one-time blood draw. The project involves individuals ages 18-50 years, on no medications and not currently pregnant or ill. Compensation is available. Scheduling is flexible.
