In "A Field," Kandis Williams uses plant life to explore the ways in which people, much like the crops they cultivate, can be subject to exploitation and control. Through a combination of sculpture, video and installation, "A Field" reveals patterns in the relations between performance, sexualization and labor. "A Field" opens Nov. 6 at the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St., and will be on view through Aug. 2, 2021.
