'The Politics of Annexation: Oligarchic Power in a Southern City'

"The Politics of Annexation" is a landmark study in the annexation of suburban areas by cities for tax, political and even racial purposes, focusing on Richmond’s racially motivated annexation of a part of Chesterfield. Living Well After Cancer

More people than ever before are surviving cancer. Creating a survivorship plan can help you cope with lingering side effects, anxiety, fear of recurrence and more. Join physicians Mary Helen Hackney, M.D., and Masey Ross, M.D., from VCU Massey Cancer Center as they discuss the importance of developing a follow-up care plan and maintaining your health after completing cancer treatment. In Discussion at ICA: Kandis Williams and Amber Esseiva

'The World We Want Is Us'
7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
"The World We Want Is Us" presents large-scale projections onto the ICA’s facade by artists and Southerners On New Ground (SONG) members Shazza Berhan and Laura Chow Reeve. A project for "Commonwealth," this projection is presented by the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St., in conjunction with InLight. Projections will be visible on the ICA’s exterior from 7-10 p.m. on Nov. 12-15, weather permitting. Pedestrians may view from the Belvidere sidewalk or within the Resiliency Garden. Social distancing will be observed.

InLight: 1708 Gallery Exhibition

1708 Gallery’s 13th annual InLight, a public exhibition of contemporary light-based artworks, will take place Nov. 12-15 at sites across Richmond and will address the paired themes of safety and accountability.

Student Video Work Projections During InLight

VCUarts The Anderson will present Student Video Work as part of 1708 Gallery's InLight Richmond, a public exhibition of light-based artworks and installations. The reel of Student Video Work will be projected outside The Anderson, 907 1/2 W. Franklin St., from 7-11 p.m. on Nov. 12-14 and 7-10 p.m. Nov. 15. Two-Spirit: It's Not Biological, It's Spiritual
Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Adrian Matthias Stevens and Sean Snyder are Indigenous dancers who have been together for seven years. They will honor and discuss Two-Spirit people, a term associated with Indigenous people possessing both male and female spirits. Being Two-Spirit is also an umbrella term, representing Indigenous queer people at large. The program is hosted by VCU's Office of Multicultural Student Affairs. Plan Ahead: Request Interlibrary Loans and Deliveries Now
VCU Libraries' Interlibrary Loan and Delivery Services will be closed during the VCU Winter Break Dec. 19-Jan. 3, 2021. The time required to obtain materials from other institutions increases greatly during December and January due to breaks, holiday mail volume and increased end-of-semester workloads. Therefore, requests for research materials should be made as soon as possible.

Holiday Updates for VCU Mail Services
VCU Mail Services will close at noon on Thanksgiving on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses and at 1 p.m. at the Ownby Main Processing location. Mail Services will be closed all day Nov. 26-27, Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1, 2021. Departments currently receiving pickup and delivery services must contact Mail Services in writing or by email to request services during the winter closing. Otherwise, mail deliveries will resume on Jan. 4, 2021.

Involvement includes participation in a one-week online intervention that lasts 45 minutes total. Participants are asked to complete one-hour online surveys at three time points.
