Meet MGC Informational Session

The Enduring Legacy of Inequitable Exposure to Extreme Heat in U.S. Cities

The VCU Honors College will host Jeremy Hoffman, chief scientist at the Science Museum of Virginia, for a Berglund seminar. Hoffman will discuss why low-resource communities of color around the U.S. are consistently and disproportionately exposed to urban heat islands. He will explore redlining as a plausible explanation for this inequity as well as the implications of these findings in the face of a changing climate.

August and December grads are invited to upload a 10-second video clip using the graduate upload submission form to share a message or shout-out. Recruiting Now for TEENS, a Virtual Weight Management Research Program for Those Ages 12-16
Are you concerned about your teen’s weight? We can help. TEENS is a research program that includes a four-month family-based lifestyle intervention - all conducted virtually - for teens ages 12 to 16 who are overweight or have obesity problems. The program is offered by Children's Hospital of Richmond. It includes weekly, virtual group classes for teens and parents that cover topics such as healthy eating, physical activity and goal-setting. Teens also participate in live exercise sessions conducted online by personal trainers.
