UHCN Accepting Board Position Applications

Recreational Sports Thanksgiving Hours and Closure
VCU Recreational Sports facilities will be closed Nov. 26-29. Facilities will reopen Nov. 30, which is the start of Winter Break hours. On Nov. 25 all facilities will close at 6 p.m. Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center will close at 5:30 p.m. MCV Campus Aquatic Center will close at 2 p.m.

Secure Spaces and Valuables Before Leaving Campus
Many VCU community members may leave campus for Thanksgiving and return in January. The VCU Police Department encourages students, faculty and staff on both campuses to secure spaces, valuables, vehicles and bikes accordingly. Locking up residential and work spaces can deter theft. Those who will be away from campus for an extended period of time should consider taking home all valuable items, including gaming systems. Resolve 2019-2020 Flexible Spending Claims by Nov. 30 to Avoid Tax Consequences
Faculty and staff who participate in the state employee flexible spending program should resolve all 2019-2020 plan year claims with PayFlex by Nov. 30. Account funds used for unapproved claims become reclassified as taxable income and the Commonwealth requires VCU to withhold the applicable tax from employees' paychecks.

Massey Cancer Center's P01 Team Pilot Award Opportunity — Applications Due Dec. 15
This award promotes cancer research collaborations between biologists and organic synthetic and medicinal chemists to generate chemical probes that will lead to anticancer drugs. Team projects must include at least three projects and one administrative core. Applications should be a multiprincipal investigator collaboration featuring at least one chemist and biologist, where also at least one investigator is a Massey Cancer Center member and another a full-time VCU faculty member. This opportunity is designed to provide teams with pilot funding for preliminary research and plans for a final P01 application. Team members must have a demonstrated record of collaborations, funding and publications. Applications are due by midnight on Dec. 15.

Limited Submission Funding Opportunity for NIH/NCI NCI Early Stage Postdoctoral Researchers (K99/R00)
Massey Cancer Center is accepting applications for the NCI K99/R00 internal competition. The NCI Early K99/R00 program is designed to suit the career paths of postdoctoral fellows pursuing careers in Data Science and Cancer Control Science, who typically require only a short period of mentored research training beyond their doctoral degrees before obtaining independent faculty positions. Applicants must have a maximum of two years of postdoctoral research experience by Feb. 26, 2021. The internal application deadline is Dec. 17.
