Final Call: Proposals Sought for March Health Sciences Education Symposium

VCU’s School of Medicine is requesting proposals about educational research or innovations in health professions education at VCU. Visit the following URL to submit scholarly proposals, due Jan. 6. Areas of interest include diversity and inclusion, online engagement and fostering wellness. The symposium will be March 23-26 at noon and is sponsored by the VCU College of Health Professions; Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and the Office of Inclusive Excellence.

You First Peer Mentoring Application Open

If you're a first-generation student and will be a sophomore, junior or senior in the fall, consider becoming a peer mentor for You First at VCU. Peer mentors connect with incoming first-generation students and serve as their college guide. Training is provided, and mentors provide encouragement, community and support for each other along the way.

Funding Opportunity: Damon Runyon Clinical Investigator Award

The Damon Runyon Clinical Investigator Award supports independent young physician-scientists conducting disease-oriented research that demonstrates a high level of innovation and creativity. The three-year award includes assistance with certain research costs and medical school debt relief. Applicants must be involved in patient care and be conducting research that has the potential to be translated to impact patients. A minimum of 80% of full-time professional effort must be committed.
