Reclining Into Online Conspiracies: How Rhetoric Makes Sense Out of Nonsense

The VCU Honors College will host Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Writing Caddie Alford, Ph.D., for a Berglund seminar. Alford will discuss the rise of online communities and conspiracies, such as QAnon. She will utilize rhetorical theory in order to examine specific case studies and demonstrate how opinion makes these encounters persuasive. Email the following address for the event link.

'Lady Ganga' Watch Party

VCU Massey Cancer Center Office of Health Equity and Disparities Research is hosting a virtual watch party of the short film, "Lady Ganga." This video is about a woman's determination to educate others about cervical cancer as she was dying from this disease. Submit a Question for VCU Libraries Dean Candidates
The VCU Libraries Dean search committee has posted preliminary slide presentations. The VCU community is invited to submit questions for the candidates using the “submit a question” link next to each candidate’s headshot. VCU's Office of the Provost is calling for fellowship proposals for funded undergraduate/mentor research collaborations during the summer of 2021. Expanded Digital Content and Changes to VCU Libraries' In-Building Services and Hours

No Food or Drink Allowed Inside VCU Libraries Spaces
New this semester, to protect the community's health, no food or drink will be permitted in library buildings. Food and drink cannot be consumed anywhere in the James Branch Cabell or Health Sciences libraries. Users may not bring food and drink, except water bottles, into either library. Users are permitted to take sips of water and immediately replace face coverings. Food may be consumed only in Starbucks at Cabell.

Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of VCU's Run to the Final Four
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Rams’ journey to 2011 Final Four. The VCU Office of Alumni Relations is recapturing the excitement by asking alumni to share their memories of the “First Four to the Final Four.” The office will collect fan photos and memories to share as clips on social media during March. All submissions will receive a commemorative T-shirt. Submit entries at the following URL by Feb. 1.
