VCU Career Services will host a virtual event featuring entrepreneurs who went from an idea to launching their business. Panelists will discuss how they navigated space, funding, materials and business licenses. Those who attend will have a chance to ask questions. The event is open to VCU students and alumni. Being My Own Boss: Redefining Women-Owned Businesses

As part of Women's HerStory Month, VCU's Office of Multicultural Student Affairs will present a virtual discussion with Kim Graziano from Black Rabbit Tattoo and Thea Brown from World of Mirth. The event will focus on how they discovered their current career field, as well as how they own or operate a nontraditional small business. A Q&A and drawing for two gift certificates will follow.

Spring 2021 Anderson Publishing Grant

The Anderson is now accepting submissions for the Spring 2021 Publishing Grant. The Anderson will provide up to $300 toward direct production costs associated with a VCUarts student-designed publication selected by juror Aidan Koch. The opportunity is open to projects including traditional, bound publications, zines, experimental book forms, posters, audio/video media and digital and web-based publications, with an emphasis on editions and multiples. Submission period closes March 24.

Senior Capstone Exhibitions: Round One

VCUarts and The Anderson, 907 1/2 W. Franklin St., will present the 2021 Senior Capstone Exhibitions, an annual celebration of the VCUarts studio art majors. Round One will take place March 18-22 and will include exhibitions from the Craft and Sculpture departments and one Kinetic Imaging project. Round Two, March 26-30, will include exhibitions from Kinetic Imaging, Painting and Printmaking and Photo and Film.

VCU First Destination Survey Is Live
The VCU First Destination Survey is live for May 2021 graduates on Handshake at VCU. Responses will help VCU to improve career and academic advising, student recruitment and student services. Prizes for completing the survey include AirPods, a Roku player, a robot vacuum, a VCU luggage set and Amazon gift cards. For six months after graduation, those who participate will be able to review/change responses and remain eligible for prize drawings.

Recreational Sports ARC Basic Life Support and First Aid Classes
VCU Recreational Sports will offer an American Red Cross blended learning course which combines Basic Life Support and First Aid. The class is intended for health care providers responding to cardiac and breathing emergencies. The course specializes in skills in CPR, AED and first aid, along with elements of communication and adaptability when responding to emergencies. Upcoming single-day sessions will be held on March 23, April 3, April 6, April 17, April 20, May 1 and May 4.

Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation Diversity in Clinical Trials Career Development Program
The BMSF Diversity in Clinical Trials Career Development Program has released a call for applications to fund emerging investigators' need to conduct clinical trials that will yield the development of new treatments that are effective in all populations. Applicants must hold the degree of M.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.O. or D.O./Ph.D. and have an interest in clinical research in the areas of cancer (hematology and oncology), cardiovascular disease and immunologic disorders. Applications are due no later than July 1.
