America's Founding Monsters: A Research and Graphical Approach

VCU's Honors College will host Bernard Means, Ph.D., assistant professor of anthropology, for a Berglund seminar. Means will discuss the fossils owned by America's founding fathers through both a research approach and a graphic version in comic-book format. Why Does Ramanujan, 'The Man Who Knew Infinity,' Matter?

Srinivasa Ramanujan, one of the most inspirational figures in the history of mathematics, was a gifted amateur mathematician from south India who left behind three notebooks that engineers, mathematicians and physicists continue to mine today. Ken Ono, D.O., Thomas Jefferson Professor of Mathematics, University of Virginia, will discuss why Ramanujan matters today and share clips from the film, “The Man Who Knew Infinity,” which starred Dev Patel and Jeremy Irons. Ono served as an associate producer and mathematical consultant for the film. The talk is part of VCU's Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Colloquium Series.
