The East Marshall Street Well Project: A Story of Our Ancestral Remains
Monday, May 17, 2021 from noon to 1:30 p.m.
Join Jennifer Early, Ph.D., project manager at VCU Health and a member of the Family Representative Council for the East Marshall Street Well Project, for a virtual presentation recounting the history of human remains found in the East Marshall Street Well on the VCU Medical Center Campus. Early will explore the practice of 19th-century grave robbing for the purposes of procuring cadavers for medical study and how this practice was only one contributor to institutional racism in health care. Chart Your Course From Blackboard to Canvas
While preparing courses in Canvas, it might be helpful to know what features and tools exist in Canvas, and how they align or differ from Blackboard. To assist instructors with the transition to Canvas, the Learning Systems team has created an "Equivalencies Chart" which maps the tools in Blackboard to those in Canvas. Cabell Library's First-Floor Stacks Will Be Closed for Browsing This Summer
The VCU Libraries collection housed on the first floor of James Branch Cabell Library will be unavailable for browsing June 8 through as late as Oct. 15 for the replacement of aged and unstable shelving and old carpeting. Researchers are encouraged to plan ahead and check out needed materials before June 5. Faculty may request books to be pulled and held for pickup at the service desk, or for Front Door Pickup or delivered to their offices by using the “Request” function in the search box.

A Physical Activity and Nutrition Study for Black Breast Cancer Survivors
Black women who are breast cancer survivors and overweight/obese are invited to participate in a research study that requires you to participate in 16 one-hour workout sessions and laboratory visits. Compensation will be provided. This study will be conducted at the VCU Run lab on the Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator is Vanessa B. Sheppard, Ph.D., Department of Health Behavior and Policy.

Virtual Reality Gaming for Back Pain
Are you currently experiencing low back pain, between the ages of 18-60 years old and interested in the possibility of nine weeks of nonsurgical experimental treatment? If you answered yes to all three you may qualify for our research. What? New, innovative and fun virtual reality games are designed to help people with chronic back pain move and feel better. Where? All appointments, testing and treatments are conducted at VCU. When? Participation in the study involves 24 one-hour appointments scheduled over a 57-week period. Who? The VIGOR Study team consists of professionals in the field who have been selectively chosen and extensively trained. Interested? Contact VCU's Motor Control Lab at the following URL.
