Personal stories help build community and bridge political, social and cultural divides. During this series at the Pace Center, 700 W. VCU Police U-lock Giveaway and Bike Registration

English Department's Free Screening of New Film 'Zola'
Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021 at 7 p.m.
You’ve seen movie adaptations of some of your favorite books, but have you ever seen a movie adapted from a viral Twitter thread? Tweets aren't what we typically think of as "literature," but they're definitely a storytelling medium. Come to the free screening of “Zola”— the first film ever to adapt a screenplay from a viral Twitter thread. “Zola” recounts a wild 48-hour trip to Florida involving stripping, sexual exploits and violence. You name it, "Zola" has it, while also offering lots to think about in terms of racial politics, labor, gender and performativity. Caddie Alford, Ph.D., specialist in digital rhetoric, will host the evening and give a quick introduction on digital remediation. The screening, open to all, will be in Room 403, Hibbs Hall, 900 Park Ave.

Seeking Research Volunteers Who Drink Alcohol
VCU Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies is seeking volunteers aged 21-70 to participate in research studying the brain’s reaction to alcohol. Eligible participants will be paid $315 for every test day (three test days) and additional compensation for each clinic visit.
