IExcel Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Certificate Courses
Wednesday, Jun. 30, 2021 at 8 a.m.
Apply by June 30 for one of the IExcel Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Certificate specialization online courses that begin on July 12. These courses are being offered a la carte for VCU faculty and staff. Applicants may choose one or two specialization courses (Cultivating Inclusive Learning Environments D527, Diversity and Inclusion in Healthcare D604 or Advancing Diversity and Equity in Corporate Settings D707) to be taken online July 12-Aug. 9. The a la carte fee is $500 per course, payable by departmental transfer. A certificate will be awarded to each participant who successfully completes the course. Enrollment is limited. Four Send-offs for New Students
Wednesday, Jul. 28, 2021 at 6 p.m.
VCU's Office of Alumni Relations and New Student and Family Programs have planned four student send-offs this summer, one virtual and three in-person events, to welcome the university's newest Rams. The send-offs are an opportunity for incoming students and their families to learn from alumni and current students about VCU and what it means to be a Ram. A virtual send-off via Zoom will be held July 28. In-person send-offs will be held July 29 at Hampton Roads (5:30-7:30 p.m., Mount Trashmore Park, Shelter 1, 310 Edwin Drive); Aug. 4 at DMV (6-8 p.m., Walker Nature Center, 11450 Glade Drive, Reston) and Aug. 5 in Richmond (6-8 p.m., VCU Commons Plaza, 907 Floyd Ave.). Introduce Students to VCU and the Common Book
Monday, Aug. 16, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Common Book Program invites faculty and staff to welcome first-year students to VCU by facilitating a 50-minute August Common Book discussion on Aug. 16 or Aug. 17 via Zoom. The 2020-21 Common Book, "Rising" by Elizabeth Rush, looks at the impact of climate change and rising sea levels on U.S. coastal communities. Questions: http://commonbook.vcu.edu. Cashiers Office To Close Early for Fiscal Year End
VCU's Cashiers Office, Grace Harris Hall, 1015 Floyd Ave., will close at noon on June 30 due to Fiscal Year End. All materials should be to the office by 11:45 a.m. to insure timely processing. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. on July 1.

Top Hat Free For All VCU Students
Access to the Top Hat active learning platform is now free for all VCU students. Top Hat will automatically issue a refund to students who purchased a subscription for Summer 2021 courses. Filipino American Heart Health Study
Youssef Roman from VCU's School of Pharmacy is leading a community genetic research study to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of cardiovascular diseases in Filipino Americans. You can participate in this study if you are 18 or older and self-identify as Filipino and both of your biological parents are also Filipino. This study will take place at VCU Clinical Research Unit.
