Verizon Local Dialing Changes: Oct. 6 and Oct. 24

VCU Technology Services announces that an interim change in early October will require local long-distance (calls dialed from 804 to another 804 number that is long-distance) to be dialed 9+1 (804) XXX-XXXX. If a local long distance call does not follow this pattern, the caller will hear a Verizon recording instructing them to dial 9+1 (804) XXX-XXXX to complete the call. On Oct. 24, all local calls will need to be completed using the full 10-digit telephone number, 9+(804) XXX-XXXX for local calls or 9+1 (804) XXX-XXXX.

New Travel Accident Insurance for International Travelers

Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI) is the new provider of emergency evacuation and travel assistance services for VCU and the VCU Health System. Employees and other authorized business travelers are automatically covered while on VCU sponsored travel abroad but are encouraged to register their international itinerary on the CISI business traveler website at https://www.culturalinsurance.com/vcu-bt/. These travelers may also consider the optional travel health insurance coverage offered by CISI for an additional cost. For questions regarding the travel insurance and services offered by CISI, email srm@vcu.edu. Students participating in most education abroad programs administered by the VCU Global Education Office will be automatically enrolled by GEO in the CISI plan. The Endowment Fund at VCU's C. VCU Health and Massey Cancer Center are conducting focus groups to understand the experiences of Black men who smoke or used to smoke and their opinions about lung cancer screening, smoking cessation and health care disparities in Virginia. Do You Smoke Tobacco Cigarettes?

Individuals who smoke tobacco cigarettes daily are needed to participate in a research study that requires multiple laboratory visits. Compensation may be available. This study will be conducted at VCU. Principal investigator is Alison Breland, Ph.D., Department of Psychology.
