COVID-19 Prevention and Control: A Culturally Sensitive Presentation Targeted to the VCU Black Community

The VCU African American Alumni Council and VCU alumni from the Theta Rho chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. will present a seminar via Zoom on COVID-19 in the Black community. Although Black Americans comprise 13.4% of the U.S. population, they make up 33.1% of all COVID-19-related hospitalizations. Attend this seminar to gain an understanding of the virology, health care challenges, epidemiology and preventive skills necessary to survive the next surge of the virus. A Conversation With Amy Brainer: 'Queer Kinship and Family Change in Taiwan'

Jeremy Toussaint-Baptiste: 'Set It Off'

An exhibition by Jeremy Toussaint-Baptiste consists of two variations of a monumental, immersive, sonic sculpture installed at two sites. At the Institute for Contemporary Art at the Markel Center, 601 W. Broad St., visitors will be invited to enter two large-scale black cubes made of wood, polyethylene and tinted glass. At 1708 Gallery, 319 W. Broad St., visitors will encounter a black square pool built of similar materials. The exhibit will be on view through June 19, 2022.

Halloween Bake Sale

Filipino American Heart Health Study
Youssef Roman, Pharm.D., Ph.D., of VCU's School of Pharmacy is conducting a study to assess the prevalence and causes of heart diseases in Filipino Americans. This study is for anyone who considers themselves as Filipino with both biological parents of Filipino heritage. The study is funded by VCU's C.
