'Not a Nation of Immigrants: Settler Colonialism, White Supremacy, and a History of Erasure and Exclusion'

The Humanities Research Center at VCU will present via Zoom webinar a talk by historian Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, who seeks in her new book to debunk the viewpoint that the United States was founded by immigrants. She argues that this ideology is harmful and dishonest. She urges readers to consider a more complex history of the United States, which also includes genocide, white supremacy, slavery and structural inequality. Interest Meeting for CLARION Interprofessional Case Competition

Join the Center for Interprofessional Education and Inter Health Professionals Alliance for an interest meeting via Zoom for the National CLARION Competition. This is a student case competition for health professional students, enabling them to achieve a 360-degree perspective on patient safety in today's health care system and how it might be improved. Student teams, consisting of four students composed of at least two disciplines, are given a case and charged with creating a root cause analysis. The team presents its plan to a panel of interprofessional judges that evaluates their results in the context of real world standards of practice. VCU Police Urges the Use of Headquarters for Online Sales and Exchanges
When selling (or buying) an item online, choose a public meetup spot with safety in mind. VCU Police has a “sell safe” location in its lobby, located at 224 E. Broad St. It can be accessed by taking the Convention Center GRTC Pulse stops and visitor and bike parking is available behind the building. VCUPD headquarters is staffed 24/7 and the public vestibule at the Broad Street entrance is under camera surveillance.

Richmond Marathon To Cause Traffic Disruptions
Facilities Management advises that the Richmond Marathon will cause street closures and detours on Nov. 13 from 4 a.m.-3 p.m. on both the Monroe Park and MCV campuses. Race organizers recommend using the Waze traffic app to help navigate on race day as road closures have been preloaded into the app. Anyone traveling to campus should allow extra time to reach their destination.

Participants Are Invited For Study Examining Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Exercise
This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have PTSD or symptoms of PTSD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of PTSD symptoms on blood vessel function during acute exercise and following exercise training. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
