Muslim Student Association Jummah (Friday) Prayer

VCU's Muslim Student Association will hold Jummah (Friday) Prayer in the Virginia Rooms on the second floor of the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. First Khutbah will be held at 1:15 p.m.; the second will be at 2:15 p.m. Masks will be required.

Afghan Refugees: Cards of Hope
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Pace Center's Serve Team is sponsoring "Cards of Hope," encouraging notes which will be given to refugees fleeing Afghanistan. Drop by the center, 700 W. Franklin St., to write a message of hope and encouragement. The center will provide snacks, cards and supplies. The ability to write in Arabic, Pashto or Dari is a plus but not required.

2021 ACCESS Symposium: Challenges to Care From Curbside to Bedside in Low Resource Settings

The ACCESS (Acute Care and Systems Strengthening) Program at VCU's School of Medicine will host the third annual ACCESS Symposium, which this year aims to engage students and those eager to learn about practicing acute care specialties in global settings. This symposium will offer five specialty specific panels: surgery, anesthesiology, OB/GYN, critical care and emergency medicine. RecWell Outdoor Adventure Program Climbing Clinics
VCU RecWell's Outdoor Adventure Program offers climbing clinics free to VCU students and RecWell members for all levels of experience. Clinics are held at the Cary Street Gym climbing wall, 101 S. Linden St., throughout the semester. Clinics include sport climbing, gym to crag, climbing technique and request-a-clinic.

MCV Campus Aquatic Center Closed For Repairs
In order to address structural concerns, the MCV Campus Aquatic Center has closed. VCU RecWell does not currently have an anticipated reopening date, but an update will be announced once the project timeline is confirmed. The MCV Campus Recreation Center, 900 Turpin St., and all locker room facilities will remain open throughout the repair project. The Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center, 101 S. Linden St., is open regular hours.

RecWell Adult Swim Lessons
The first session of RecWell's adult swim lessons starts Sept. 11 (Saturday classes) and Sept. 13 (Monday/Wednesday classes). Classes are held at Cary Street Gym Aquatic Center, 101 S. Patients With Painful Diabetic Neuropathy Are Invited To Participate in a Study of a Potential New Treatment
We are inviting male and female Type 2 diabetes patients with painful diabetic neuropathy ages 18-75 to participate in a research investigation of a new treatment to alleviate pain and examine its effects on pain perception. In addition to the new treatment, this study involves completing surveys and undergoing tests to evaluate perceptions of pain. Volunteers will be compensated for their time. Participants are only required to come once for the study. The study is conducted within the VCU Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Lab.
