Fall 2021 HealthHacks

HealthHacks is returning. The event is a 24-hour sprint of intense innovation and problem-solving while addressing challenges through teamwork, solution ideation, programming, rapid prototyping and developing flow processes. Students are sought from all disciplines who are interested in reinventing the way medical education is delivered, both in the classroom and in the clinic. Verizon Local Dialing Changes: Oct. 6 and Oct. 24
VCU Technology Services announces that an interim change in early October will require local long-distance (calls dialed from 804 to another 804 number that is long-distance) to be dialed 9+1 (804) XXX-XXXX. If a local long distance call does not follow this pattern, the caller will hear a Verizon recording instructing them to dial 9+1 (804) XXX-XXXX to complete the call. On Oct. 24, all local calls will need to be completed using the full 10-digit telephone number, 9+(804) XXX-XXXX for local calls or 9+1 (804) XXX-XXXX.

Earn Your Master's Degree in Clinical and Translational Science

UCS Identity-Based Support Groups
University Counseling Services offers identity-based support groups designed to help students build community with others who share an important identity. Current groups include Black Voices, Rainbow Group, Asian Voices, International Student Discussion Hour, Support Group for Students with Chronic Health Conditions, and Support Group for Survivors of Sexual Violence. Students do not have to be enrolled in other UCS services to participate and can sign up directly from the UCS website.

Patients With Painful Diabetic Neuropathy Are Invited To Participate in a Study of a Potential New Treatment
We are inviting male and female Type 2 diabetes patients with painful diabetic neuropathy ages 18-75 to participate in a research investigation of a new treatment to alleviate pain and examine its effects on pain perception. In addition to the new treatment, this study involves completing surveys and undergoing tests to evaluate perceptions of pain. Volunteers will be compensated for their time. Participants are only required to come once for the study. The study is conducted within the VCU Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Lab. The Mid-Atlantic Twin Registry is a group of twins and their families who are willing to consider taking part in twin-based, health-related research.
