Chelmow, member of the United States Preventive Services Task Force, and Davis, member of the Women's Preventive Services Initiative, are both VCU faculty members and will present an overview of the initiative, including its processes for developing and revising recommendations and its approach to dissemination and implementation. REAL 399 Office Hours
2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
VCU REAL will host virtual office hours throughout the first week of classes for faculty, staff and students to learn more about REAL 399, including how to apply. REAL 399 is a variable 0-3 credit course that allows students from any major to document their experiential learning project on their academic transcript. Office hours will be held 2-3 p.m. Jan. 18, 2-3 p.m. Jan. 19, 9-10 a.m. Jan. 20 and 11:30-12:30 p.m. Jan. 21.

CLARION Competition Root Cause Analysis Presentation and Team Formation Meeting
Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022 at noon
Join the Center for Interprofessional Education and Inter Health Professionals Alliance for a root cause analysis presentation and team formation meeting via Zoom for the National CLARION Competition. This is a student case competition for health professional students, enabling them to achieve a 360-degree perspective on patient safety in today's health care system and how it might be improved. Student teams, consisting of four students, composed of at least two disciplines, are given a case and are charged with creating a root cause analysis. The team presents their analysis to a panel of interprofessional judges that evaluates their analysis in the context of real-world standards of practice. Free Flu Vaccines at University Student Health Services
University Student Health Services offers free flu vaccines to all students on both campuses. The flu vaccine is safe, effective and does not cause the flu. All students are encouraged to get the flu vaccine, especially those at high risk for flu complications (those who have asthma, diabetes or heart disease). Are You Interested in Learning Strategies To Help Manage Cancer-Related Pain?
The VCU Massey Cancer Center Survivorship Research Program is testing a six-week program for people with cancer-related pain to learn strategies to help reduce their pain. If you are a cancer survivor who is no longer being treated for cancer but still experiencing pain and on medications such as Percocet, OxyContin, Methadone, or Fentanyl to help with pain, contact us for more information. All participants will be given a $10 dollar gift card at the start of the study, at six weeks and at 12 weeks.
