VCU Staff Senate Employee Appreciation Week: Food Truck Friday
11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Join VCU Staff Senate for Food Truck Friday at the University Student Commons Plaza (outside by the Ram Horns) and get a free lunch on us. Staff Senate will have a small variety of food trucks available to choose from. A valid VCU or VCU Health STAFF ID must be shown at the event to receive tickets to use toward the food trucks. We will also have cornhole and outdoor tables and chairs set-up to network with fellow employees. Tickets and food will be available first-come, first-serve, while supplies last.

As part of appreciation week, VCU faculty and staff will have the opportunity to attend this week's home games for free at The Diamond, 3001 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd. Monmouth University will play North Carolina A&T at 2 p.m. March 11, VCU will play North Carolina A&T at 6:30 p.m. March 11, VCU will play Monmouth at 2 p.m. March 12 and VCU will again play Monmouth at 1 p.m. March 13. Faculty and staff should show their VCU ID's at The Diamond box office for free admission.

VCU Police To Offer Women's Self Defense Course - Rape Aggression Defense
VCU Police will host Rape Aggression Defense training March 19-20. The training teaches participants physical self-defense techniques and raises awareness about sexual assault, violence and abduction. The class is for women (assigned, identifying and transgender) and is free to students, or $10 for faculty, staff and visitors. RAD is a 12-hour program and participants must be able to attend both dates. Register at the following URL.

Women in Science Travel Award
Supporters of Women in Science can apply for a travel award toward any conference or scholastic/research presentation in memory of the group's late mentor, Jan Chlebowski, Ph.D., a biochemist and faculty member at VCU for 39 years. The winner will be offered up to $300 and the runner-up up to $200 to support a virtual or in-person conference this year. Applications must demonstrate promotion of women in science, either through participation in Women in Science or in another manner. Email the following address for an application. Patients With Painful Diabetic Neuropathy Are Invited To Participate in a Study of a Potential New Treatment
We are inviting male and female Type 2 diabetes patients with painful diabetic neuropathy ages 18-75 to participate in a research investigation of a new treatment to alleviate pain and examine its effects on pain perception. In addition to the new treatment, this study involves completing surveys and undergoing tests to evaluate perceptions of pain. Volunteers will be compensated for their time. Participants are only required to come once for the study. The study is conducted within the VCU Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Engineering Lab.
