10 Under 10 Nominations

VCU Alumni is seeking nominations for the 2022 10 Under 10 awards, which which recognize distinctive achievements by alumni who have earned their first VCU degree within the past 10 years. Nominations can be made by any person or group affiliated with VCU — students, faculty, staff or alumni. Nominees must have graduated with their first degree from VCU between 2012 and 2021. Nominees are evaluated on their professional success, community contributions or commitment to maintaining a lifelong relationship with the university. This award recognizes accomplishments of the individual after graduation from VCU, although their student experience can be one factor in their nomination. Along with these core criteria, consideration is as given to alumni who embody VCU’s core values, have a unique or distinctive life experience or career and represent VCU’s diverse alumni population. VCU's Mindful Moms Program invites those who are pregnant in their second trimester (12-26 weeks) to join the program's online classes. Eligible participants will have the opportunity to enroll in 12 weeks of free prenatal yoga or educational classes from home. Compensation is available. Avaya Workplace Update and Changes

On Feb. 10 beginning at 5 p.m., VCU Telecommunications will complete a maintenance update to the Avaya Workplace app. The updates are: 1.) Dialing 9 before a local or long-distance call will no longer be needed. 2.) For cellphone, Workplace users only, a call to 911 will go out over your wireless carrier (AT&T, for instance, or Verizon T-Mobile). Users are strongly advised not to use the Avaya Workplace application to place a 911 call.

Virtual Immersive Gaming to Optimize Recovery in Low Back Pain (VIGOR)

Are you currently experiencing low back pain, between the ages of 18-60 years old and interested in the possibility of nine weeks of nonsurgical experimental treatment? If you answered yes to all three you may qualify for our research. What? New, innovative and fun virtual reality games are designed to help people with chronic back pain move and feel better. Where? All appointments, testing and treatments are conducted at VCU. When? Participation in the study involves 24 one-hour appointments scheduled over a 57-week period. Who? Participants Are Invited For Study Examining Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Exercise

This study is seeking individuals between the ages of 18 and 35 years who have generalized anxiety disorder or symptoms of GAD. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of GAD symptoms on blood vessel function during acute exercise and in response to exercise training. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal investigator is Ryan Garten, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
