VCU is the signature sponsor of a citywide event in September -- the VCU Broad Street Mile -- that will offer participants the opportunity to compete in fun runs, raise money for scholarships and enjoy a festival on Richmond’s main thoroughfare. The inaugural event will celebrate VCU’s 175th Anniversary and take place on Broad Street between Belvidere Street and Hermitage Road. Broad Street will be transformed into two areas, a mile side and festival side. The mile side will feature fun-themed mile races throughout the event, while the festival side will feature exhibits from VCU academic programs, VCU student organizations, corporate sponsors and community organizations. In addition, nonprofit organizations can recruit runners and raise money through entry fees and additional online fundraising campaigns. Biometric Screenings and Premium Rewards for Faculty and Staff in the State Health Benefits Program

Free on-campus biometric health screenings are offered by appointment only on Sept. 17, Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 for employees and enrolled spouses in the COVA Care, COVA HealthAware and COVA HDHP plans. To schedule an on-campus appointment, employees can visit and register for access or log into their existing MyActiveHealth account. Employees and enrolled spouses covered by COVA Care or COVA HealthAware as of July 1 can receive a six-month premium reward beginning Jan. 1 if they complete a biometric health screening by Oct. 31. RamAway Service Starts Aug. 15

VCU Transportation, in partnership with the Divisions of Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, will provide free shuttle service from the Richmond International Airport, Main Street Station and the Greyhound station Thursday, Aug. 15, through Wednesday, Aug. 21.
