Engineering World Health at VCU presents Zoltan Istvan, a 2016 presidential candidate for the Transhumanist Party, in the School of Engineering West Hall, Room 104. Istvan will be speaking about biomedical enhancement, the philosophy of transhumanism and how transhumanist technology will affect developing countries.

VCUarts invites the VCU community to an open night in the Pollak Building. Participants will enjoy an evening of total sensory immersion in the works of VCUarts wildly talented graduate MFA and undergraduate students in photography, film, graphic design, fashion design and interior design.

This week

Women's Basketball hosts the University of Maryland Eastern Shore at the Siegel Center. The game will feature a post-game autograph session with the Women's Basketball team. VCU students receive free admission. Faculty and staff will receive a discounted $4 ticket with a valid VCU ID.

The VCU community is invited to hear VCU Common Book Author-in-Residence Jill Lepore, Ph.D., who will speak on "The Secret History of Wonder Woman” at the New Cabell Library Auditorium. Lepore will be signing books after the talk.


Noise Alert: Construction Finale at Cabell Affects Exam Season This Week

Work on new Cabell Library is edging to a close. To meet deadlines, some essential work is being done this week. From Dec. 10-11, workers are installing new shelving in the services area in the new lobby. Expect noise on the first and second floors. RamRide Holiday Service

The Campus Connector operates on its normal schedule through Tuesday, Dec. 15, and will operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Dec. 16-18. From Saturday, Dec. 19, through Sunday, Jan. 3, the Campus Connector will not be in service. The A Lot, I Lot and M Lot routes will be serviced as normal, with the exception of Friday, Dec. 25, and Friday, Jan. 1. Employees who park in the A, I or M lots will be permitted to park in the N Deck or 8th St. Deck on these two dates. Spring Break Trip To Guatemala

The Highland Support Project at VCU sponsors a spring break trip to Guatemala from March 5-12, 2016. HSP invites those passionate about service, travel and social justice to spend a week working with the Indigenous Maya communities in the Western Highlands of Guatemala on environmental, health and educational arts projects, all while learning about traditional Maya culture. Participants will enjoy projects and events, such as stove building and salsa night. Space is limited. Register by Friday, Dec. 18, to receive a $100 early registration discount.
