Faculty and Staff Open Enrollment for Health Coverage and Flexible Spending: May 1 - May 15

Open enrollment for the Commonwealth of Virginia’s health coverage and flexible spending plans takes place from May 1 – May 15. Eligible university faculty and classified staff may enroll in flexible spending accounts and/or make changes to health coverage elections for the plan year that begins July 1, 2017. No action is required to maintain current health coverage elections for the upcoming plan year, but enrollment is required to begin or continue participation in flexible spending. COVA Care and COVA HealthAware participants can qualify for premium rewards for the upcoming plan year by completing a new or updated health assessment. This year’s open enrollment uses paper election forms only; online elections are not available. See information, resources, and tools at www.hr.vcu.edu/open-enrollment. Questions? The Wellness Resource Center hosts "Supporting Survivors: The Importance of Language" in the University Student Commons, Richmond Salons I-II. Attendees will learn effective advocacy skills to help empower survivors, receive an overview of solution-focused, trauma-informed care and learn the principles of Forensic Experiential Trauma Interviewing (FETI).

VCUarts presents the 2017 MFA Thesis Exhibition: Round Two Opening Reception at The Anderson. The exhibition will remain on display at The Anderson from April 28 to May 7. Amendment Literary and Art Journal presents the second annual film festival at The Depot. The festival will feature seven short films which reflect Amendment's mission statement of "social progression through artistic expression" and range from abstract video, to narrative film, to documentary. The event is free and open to the public. Free food and drinks will be provided.

University Counseling Services and The Center for Human-Animal Interaction present "Paws for Stress" in the University Student Commons, Virginia Rooms A-D. Participants can play with certified therapy dogs from the Center for Human-Animal Interaction as a way to unwind from semester stress. The Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research and the Center on Society and Health host a seminar for researchers and community partners interested in patient-centered outcomes research in the Larrick Student Center, Court End Ballroom. Emily Zimmerman, Ph.D., Center on Society and Health, will discuss a new method to engage stakeholders in developing community-identified research questions and present research agendas for diabetes, hypertension and lung cancer.
