David Naff, associate director of VCU’s Metropolitan Educational Research Consortium, will discuss how podcasts share research. This presentation is a case study: Naff’s podcast "Abstract" communicates educational research to decision-makers in public schools. Naff will discuss theoretical and practical implications as well as implications for the literature on research use and podcasting as a communication tool in education. VCU's School of World Studies will host Dana El Kurd. Ph.D., for a lecture. She is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Richmond. She writes and researches about authoritarian regimes in the Arab world, state-society relations and the impact of international intervention. Her book, "Polarized and Demobilized: Legacies of Authoritarianism in Palestine," was published in 2020 by Oxford University Press. VCU Police To Offer Women's Self-Defense Course

VCU Police will host Rape Aggression Defense training April 4, 6, 11 and 13. RAD teaches participants physical self-defense techniques and raises awareness about sexual assault, violence and abduction. The class is for women (assigned/identifying/transgender) and is free to students, or $10 for faculty, staff and visitors. RAD is a 12-hour program and participants must be able to attend all dates. This is a research study aiming to receive feedback on a sexual health intervention designed for couples. To be eligible to participate, you have to identity as Black or African American and be 18 to 35 years of age.
