The Public Health Student Association will hold a lay rescuer training session on understanding opioids, how opioid overdoses happen, risk factors for opioid overdoses and how to respond to an opioid overdose emergency with the administration of Naloxone. Research on unconscious bias shows how the brain takes shortcuts that can be informed by socialized biases. Beginning with the roots of prejudice, this interactive presentation demonstrates its progression from thoughts, to words, to actions. Using case studies, discussion and real-life examples, this workshop will ask participants to consider the ways in which prejudice stands in the way of creating an inclusive organization. SPCA Drive

Women in Science will host a drive to support the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals through Friday, April 12. New bags of dog and cat food, new toys, dental hygiene products, flea and tick preventives and treats will be collected. Bins will be located around the medical campus at Jonah L. Updated Requirements for Part-Time Employee Parking Permit

Employees who now make $19 or less hourly and work less than 29 hours per week but are not full-time students qualify for the part-time rate (other regulations apply). Rates are adjusted in line with State of Virginia salary increases. Note: Students working hourly roles at VCU are not eligible for faculty/staff parking permits. Those who hold a dual status as a part-time student and part-time employee are handled on a case-by-case basis.
