Lecture by Visiting Artist Marianna Simnett

VCU's Department of Painting and Printmaking and the Department of Photo/Film will together present a lecture by Marianna Simnett in the theater of the University Student Commons, 907 Floyd Ave. Simnett is an artist, filmmaker and musician. She uses vivid and visceral means to explore the body as a site of transformation. In psychologically charged works that challenge both herself and the viewer, Simnett imagines radical new worlds filled with untamed thoughts and strange tales.

From Mars to Personalized Medicine: The Power of 2D Nanopores

The Department of Physics will host Marija Drndic, Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania, for her talk on the power of 2D nanopores. This talk will explore how tiny sensors made from ultra-thin materials are revolutionizing science. These 2D nanopore sensors can detect single molecules by measuring changes in electrical signals as they pass through tiny holes — so small they can be just a few atoms wide. Doctoral Lecture Series: 'Volunteers in the Parks - Findings From an Embedded Research Project With the National Park Service'

RecWell OAP Belay Clinics
RecWell’s Outdoor Adventure Program offers belay clinics at the Cary Street Gym Climbing Wall, 101 S. Linden St., every Wednesday, 5-6 p.m., through Wednesday, Dec. 4. Learning to belay allows participants to climb with a partner and is a fundamental skill for all rock climbers.
