VCU's Office of the Provost - Faculty Affairs will host New Faculty Orientation with a focus on mapping effective practices for successful career trajectories, learning and accessing VCU resources and creating meaningful connections with VCU colleagues. Faculty Club at Cabell

VCU's Office of the Provost will host a Faculty Club in James Branch Cabell Library, Room 303, 901 Park Ave. This Faculty Club will be focused on the upcoming COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey, in which VCU is participating this Spring semester. Registration Open for Supervisors and Managers Boot Camp, a Professional Development Course

The Grace E. Harris Leadership Development Institute’s Supervisors and Managers Boot Camp is open for registration. The ability to create and edit Google Sites is no longer available. The Google Sites service will be fully decommissioned as of December 2024. University-related sites and course-related sites should be moved or created in the appropriate university systems. Personal sites should be created on non-university hosted platforms.``

RecWell Facilities Winter Break Closure

RecWell Water Safety Instructor Course January 2025
This course will prepare participants to plan and teach courses within the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program. Courses include preschool aquatics, learn-to-swim and safety training for swim coaches. Participants who successfully complete this course will receive American Red Cross certification as a water safety instructor valid for two years. This course does not provide lifeguard or CPR/AED training. Program dates are Jan. 5-8, Monday through Thursday, noon-7 p.m. Register at the following URL by Friday, Dec 20.

Virginia Retirement System Hybrid Plan Voluntary Contribution Election Deadline is Dec. 16
Monday, Dec. 16 by 4 p.m. is the quarterly deadline for participants in the Virginia Retirement System Hybrid Plan to elect voluntary contributions to become effective in January. Employees in the VRS Hybrid Plan can elect to voluntarily contribute up to four percent (4%) of their creditable salary to receive up to a 2.5 percent employer match. Abstract Submissions for Women's Heart Health Symposium
Abstract submissions are being accepted for the 10th Annual Heart Health in Women Symposium. All career levels are eligible, including basic, translational, clinical, epidemiological or implementation science impacting women’s cardiovascular health. Women in Science and Children's Hospital of Richmond Toy Drive
Join the Women in Science organization and Children's Hospital of Richmond to collect and donate toys for local children in the Richmond area. MCV drop-off sites are located at Hermes A. Kontos Medical Sciences Building, 1217 E. Marshall St.; Molecular Medicine Research Building (MMRB), 1220 E. Broad St.; and Sanger Hall, 1101 E. Marshall St. The last day to drop off toys is Wednesday, Dec. 18. All toys nust be brand new and in their original packaging.

Risk-Taking in Eating Disorders Study
The TREAT Lab (Translational Research on Eating and Affect) is recruiting adolescents and young adults assigned female at birth (aged 12 to 25 years) for a brain imaging study to understand how risky decision-making differs between individuals with bulimia nervosa and individuals without a psychological disorder.
