2025 Excellence in Virginia Government Awards

The ceremony will take note of Virginians who have made exceptional contributions to government practice and the welfare of the Commonwealth's communities and citizens. 'Harm Reduction and Gun Violence' Interactive Presentation and Training

Monument Avenue 10K Race
The Monument Avenue 10K will be held on Saturday, April 12. This event impacts most of the roads on the Monroe Park Campus with the exception of Cary, Main and Belvidere streets with closure and no parking zones. There will be no parking on West Franklin Street between North Laurel Street and North Belvidere Street starting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 10. Some street closures will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 11. Broad and Grace streets will close early Saturday morning and all streets will reopen by 5 p.m. on Saturday at the latest. If traveling to or around the Monroe Park Campus on Friday or Saturday, plan your route accordingly and allow extra time. The best routes to campus are Main Sreet and Cary Street. Participants Are Invited for Study Examining the Impact of Acute and Chronic Stress on Cardiovascular Health
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as Black or African American are invited to participate in a research study examining the effect of acute and chronic stress on cardiovascular and inflammation responses to an acute mental challenge. Raffle drawings for financial compensation will be conducted. This study will take place at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.

This study is inviting individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as LGBTQ. We are also inviting individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 who identify as cis-gender heterosexual for the control group. The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of chronic psychosocial stress and vascular inflammation to an acute mental challenge. This study will be conducted at 500 Academic Centre on VCU’s Monroe Park Campus. Principal Investigator: Lee Franco, Ph.D., Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
