Employee Health Highlights – July Is UV Safety Awareness Month

UV Safety Awareness Month reminds us to protect our skin and eyes every day by using broad spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher, reapplying every two hours, after swimming or sweating and wearing 100 percent UV blocking sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat. Limiting direct sun exposure, especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., helps reduce the risk of skin cancer, premature aging, and cataracts while still enjoying summer outdoors. Employee Health Highlights: July Is Safe Grilling Month

Grilled food just tastes better, but safe grilling keeps your home and family protected. Before using a propane grill, check for leaks and always open the lid before lighting to prevent gas buildup. Keep the grill clean by removing grease from grates and trays and place it well away from your home, deck railings, eaves and overhanging branches. Maintain a three-foot safety zone so children and pets stay clear of hot surfaces. Above all, never leave your grill unattended.
